Beatrice Reister

Beatrice Reister (Duarte) passed to eternal rest on July 28, 2015. Beatrice was born March 27, 1936 in Longhorn, TX. She married her husband and love of 55 years, Donald Reister in 1960 and left her beloved Texas to be blessed with a family in Michigan. She worked for 28 years in the food service at GVSU in Allendale where she enjoyed so many friendships. Bea liked the birds, nature, word searches, scrap booking her pictures, embroidering, gardening, and lately bingo, too. She was quick to feed you, and ever determined to have her family get together. She will be always in our hearts. Bea is survived by her husband Don; her 4 children, Mark (Jeannette) Reister, Charles (Melissa) Reister, Bridget (Kelly) Herb, Dominic (Brandy) Reister; 13 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 2 sisters, Josephine Rhame, Aurora (Joseph) Kaiser; sister-in-law, Marjorie Skibbe; brothers-in-law, Russ (Dorothy) Reister, John Reister; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Josefina Duarte; her in-laws, Harold and Effie Reister; her sister, Maria Elena Paez; brother, Richard Duarte; brothers-in-law, Edward Skibbe and Howard Rhame. The family would like to thank the staff of Tendercare/Medilodge of Wyoming for taking special care of Bea, especially her dear nurse, Melissa. Funeral Service to be held at 2 pm on Friday July 31, 2015 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, (Allendale), 6651 Scott St., 49401 with visitation, Thursday, 5-8 pm and 1 hour prior to the service. Dear Don and all your children and grandchildren. I'm sorry I can not be with you today. I know your hearts are heavy. I have a very old memory of meeting Aunt Bea when I was a tiny child soon after she arrived in the US. She was so tickled by the Reister blue eyes in a little five-year old and I was struck by her great cheer and happiness at the time. to my aunt Bea, thought we have not seen as much of each other the years , but you have always had a special place in my heart. from when i was a little boy up until i was a grown man with a family of my own. the thing i remember the most is your huge kind heart and the love you shared not only with me but with brothers and my family.
