Joseph Michael Tuszynski, age 56, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 surrounded by his family after running his race, keeping his faith, and fighting the good fight. He is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus. Joe was a kind man with a positive spirit and a great faith. He cherished his family, always put others before himself, and took a genuine interest in those around him. Joe worked for Trivalent Group for the past 15 years in sales and was a former member of the Grand Rapids Jaycees. He was preceded in death by his father, Luke Tuszynski; parents-in-law, Ben and Ruth McCoy. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 20 years, Kris; children and grandchildren, Benjamin and Kelly Kroft (Oliver, and Chloe), Katie and Sam Parker (Bryce, Matthew, and Jacob); mother, Rosella Tuszynski; brothers, Andrew Tuszynski, Patrick and Liz Tuszynski; sisters-in-law, Linda and Ron Timmer, Patti McCoy; many loving nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, with Fr. Chris Rouech Celebrant.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Vigil Service to follow at 8 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Drive SW and Saturday from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Michigan Blood or Gilda’s Club. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to their “hospital family” on 5 south and the Bone Marrow Transplant Team at Spectrum Health Butterworth for the compassionate care given to Joe and also to the many prayer warriors who carried them throughout their journey.

It’s 6 years later but I just found out about Joe today. I am so sorry for your loss. I was reminiscing about my high school years and I was wondering what happened to him. I was shocked to hear about Joe. He was a good friend and was the nicest, sweetest and a wonderful person. He always had a smile on his face. I know he is up in heaven. He was a great guy! Joe and I announced our Cancer about the same time but we both had different kinds. Joe shared a saying with me for my battle with cancer. Joe describe how the Big "C" in Cancer was changed. Joe told me the big "C" is Christ and the little "c" is cancer. Christ always wins over Cancer. Joe will always be with us in spirit and on a clear night star will be looking down on his family to protect and to re-ensure that God has this. God Speed be with you Joe and may peace be on you Kris and the family. Dennis & Joanna Hogan
