Kenneth Lee Haveman, age 67, of Hudsonville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was a retiree of Steelcase after 30 years in fire protection. He was a volunteer fireman for Georgetown Township Fire Department for 26 years and also for Blendon Township Fire Department for 6 years, serving as fire chief. He had a servant’s heart and loved to help others. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Isla; children and grandchildren, Sara and Joseph Coates (Matthew, Luke), Lora and Brent Hendriksen (Jacob, Carter), Kraig Haveman; parents, Gerald and Sadie Haveman; sister, Bev and Ken Boeve; brother, Kevin and Kelly Haveman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Carol Essenburg, Ruth and Jim Sikkema, Arlyn and Bev Essenburg; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry and Kelvin. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday 1 pm at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Marc Nelesen officiating. Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 4-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Wednesday from 12-12:45 pm at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School Tuition Assistance Fund.

We are so sorry to hear of Ken's passing, I knew he was ill and was praying for him, Isla and the kids. We lived next door to the Havemans for years and couldn't have asked for better neighbors. I remember the fall at leaf raking time...Ken would be on his rider for hours helping us out. God Bless Ken, Isla and the family....Love, Carl, Kathy, Jen, Lisa and families.

Ken was such a Blessing to our family. We remember Ripple Golf games, cruises and good times with Ken. Johnny misses his good buddy and how Ken kidded with him on the bus and at church. Ken was a precious gift from God. Praying for your family.
