Kimberly Rae Slot, age 43, of Grand Rapids, went into the arms of her Savior, after a courageous fight with cancer, on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. As a devoted teacher, Kim taught at Northview Schools for 17 years. She was an avid reader and a huge fan of University of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Trevor. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and granddaughter. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Katelyn and Abby; her parents, Craig and Mary Huizen; sister and brother, Jenni and Kevin Johnson, Todd and Marissa Huizen (Samantha, Audrey); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Erika and Paul TenEyck, Chris and Cari Slot; grandmother, Marilyn Poll; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. A special thank you to Dr. Melnik and her office, also to all the workers at Lemmon Holton-Infusion Area. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 am at Third Reformed Church, 2060 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids with Rev. Don Van Hoeven, Rev. Kyle Brown. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 4-8 pm at the church and Saturday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Northview Classroom Library Fund or Susan G. Komen Foundation.

You will be missed Mrs. Slot. Thank you for being my Language Arts teacher. Thank you so much for putting up with my punky-teenager-attitude. You definitely were my favorite teacher. I loved how sweet you were. I appreciated every lesson you taught us and still have some of my 7th grade projects. May Jah comfort the girls and your family as they work through this difficult time.
