Mark Dorian Dyehouse, beloved father, devoted husband, artist, hero, inspiration, brother, friend, uncle, and problem solver extraordinaire passed away to the loving arms of our Lord on Tuesday, October 6, at 5:40 pm. Mark valiantly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Heroism and loyalty were part of his life then and they continued to be with him yesterday as he faced a massive heart attack and three aneurisms. Until the end he was only concerned that his son would worry about him and wanted to protect him from knowing anything about how sick he was. Classic Mark! Always thinking of his son and wife. Mark pursued his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and Painting. He was proud of his BFA and applied the knowledge that he learned to his job at Steelcase every opportunity he had. Having retired three months ago Mark devoted his time to his painting, and gardening as well as using his new found freedom to work on his home and help his family prosper! Daily texts to his son Mark and wife Celeste were the highpoint of his day and usually had some little joke or insight that was thought provoking. Never did he cease bringing smiles and happiness to those around him. He found inspiration in the world around him and turned that into tremendous love for those close to him. His truly creative, beautiful, selfless, loving, compassionate, brilliant and endlessly amazing soul is one the likes of this world seldom sees. He is survived by his wife Celeste Stefaneck, son Mark Stefan, brothers Peter, Matthew, and David (Ruth), sister-in-law Susan (Michael) Delia, his nieces and nephews Mary and Joseph, Mellissa, Rachel, Michael and Robert. Visitation at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave SE in Kentwood was held on Thursday from 4 pm–8 pm and Friday from 2-4; 6-8 pm. Interment will be on Monday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. See website for details. Catholic Funeral Mass took place on Saturday October 10 at 11 am and will be preceded by a short visitation at the church from 10 am-10:30 am.

Spending time chatting with Mark at work was always a pleasure. Our gardens, yards, children, nature, wood stoves, God, and numerous other topics over the years. Mark was very proud of his son. I remember talking to Mark one time, he was so excited to bring Markie into work to show him the Andy Warhol artwork. When the pyramid closed I really missed sitting just down a ways from Mark. Many many times he would stop and sit and we would talk. After the pyramid closed I would bump into Mark every now and then and loved catching up. Mark was always kind to me. What a wonderful man. I pray that the Lord will comfort the family in the days ahead.
