Ralph Edmund Phillips, age 77, of Allendale, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015 and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ralph loved the outdoors and sports. Two of his favorite pastimes were birdwatching and watching Tiger Baseball. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John DeWeerd. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Ann; children, Jeanette DeWeerd, Julie and Joe Cuellar, Michael and Kristie Phillips; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ilene Reams, Irene Taylor, Ronnie Phillips, Virgil Phillips, Dennis Phillips, Betty Watson, Steve Rollins, Timothy Rollins, Tamara VandenBrook. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 10-11 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Great Lakes Hospice.
