Richard Dykstra

Richard Dykstra was born September 6, 1925 and passed onto Glory on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. His whole life was faithfully dedicated to serving his Lord and his family. Rich was a life-long banker working as the Assistant Vice President at Michigan National Bank and the Vice President at Byron Center State Bank. He was a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School and Kennedy Sinclair School of Banking in New York. Rich is now eagerly waiting for each one of his family; one by one they will follow him to meet our Lord: his wife of 67 years, Grace (Toering); 5 children and 11 grandchildren, Joan VanderWilp (Lisa and Eric Gallo, Jay and Melissa VanderWilp), Barbara and Richard Dyk (Richard and Ashley Dyk, Jeffrey Dyk, Shawn and Rachel Dyk), Richard and Diane Dykstra (Joey Westerling, John Westerling), James and Bonnie Dykstra (April and Pete Vander Kolk, Ashley Dykstra, Brenton and Jasmin Dykstra), Elaine and Steven Bossenbroek (Steven Bossenbroek II, Ciri and Kurt Mingerink, Geoffrey and Elizabeth Bossenbroek); 20 great grandchildren, Lydia, and Charys Gallo, Jarrett, and Macie VanderWilp, McKayla, Cullen, Braden and Emme Dyk, Jake, Luke, and Nick Dyk, Colton Westerling, Caitlyn, Peyton, and Breanna VanderKolk, Kaden, Sadie, and Kameron Mingerink, Roman, Booker, and Delainey Bossenbroek; sister-in-law, Hilda Dekker; many nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Kate Dykstra, and all of his siblings. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Dr. Daniel Mouw officiating. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Disabled Veterans of America.
