Dear Alice, I was sorry to hear of Ron’s death. When Joy and I moved to Holland in 1966, you were among our first acquaintances, and we felt a kindred spirit, recognizing your zeal for worldwide missions. My brother and his wife were then just beginning their longtime career with Wycliffe Bible Translators, and we saw a connection between their concern, and yours and Ron’s, for spreading the Word to those who have not heard. After he left the Hope faculty we continued to stay a touch for a while, and then years later there was friendship between our daughters in high school. I remember Ron as a man who combined vision, expertise, hard work, and devotion to Christ. I pray that in the midst of your grief you may at the same time find reason to rejoice in Him. Alice, we were sad to learn of Ron's Home going. We do celebrate the memory of a very good man. A man whose quiet presence and considerable achievement speaks loudly to all who knew him. He was a true follower of Jesus and the reflection of his faith remains in the hearts and minds of those who came into contact with him. I can see him now smiling compassionately bending over a bench and putting something together...quietly changing the world with Jesus.

What a blessing and honor it was to know Ron. His intelligence, sense of humor, love of music, patience in suffering, and fervent dedication to the work of Christ's kingdom have affected us deeply and will continue to have an impact here on earth. We're praying for his wonderful wife Alice and the rest of his family.

Blessings to your family. It seems like another life ago that we spent time together...almost Narnia-like as Kevin said. (I am the oldest of Dick and Shirley's sons). We sure have fond memories of you all and your commitment to the King and His Kingdom. Praying for you.

Hi Alice, You may not remember me, but surely my parents, Dick and Shirley Shaw. I am Kevin, their youngest. My mom shared that Ron passed away. I just read the Obituary. It was a beautiful write-up, and gave me such warm memories of your children. We didn't know each other that well, but "The Beerys" were a magical family to me. Please accept my condolences and extend my "Hello's" to all of your kids. My wife (Shawna) and I have four children, three grown and one left in HS in the Lansing area. Blessings to you. God is Merciful. Hebrews 12:1. Kevin Shaw, Grand Ledge MI
