Ruth Caroline Miller, 93 of Grandville, Michigan entered the eternal glory of her Lord and Savior on May 11, 2015. A devoted wife and mother, she is held in high esteem by all those who were blessed to have known her and witness the grace of Christ in her life. Born in Ludington, Michigan she met and married Emmett E. Miller in 1948 and moved to Grand Rapids in 1955. Her thoughtful demeanor and encouragement were the hallmarks of a deep and sacrificial love that surrounded her life. She was preceded in death by her husband and three grandchildren, Mitchell, Catherine and Jordan Barney. Her surviving family members include her daughters, Cherie, Mrs. James (Robyn) Bomhof, and special daughter Mrs. Dave (Leah) Apley; her grandchildren, Russell Bomhof, Allyson (Andy) Koter and Jessica (Shelby) Abercrombie; and two great-grand-daughters, Sophia Passarelli and Maisie Bomhof. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to all the neighbors who assisted us in our time of need, and a special thank you to Amy Blom, Joyce Sheppard, Norma Mansfield and our special “Dave,” for who they are. At her request, cremation has taken place.

Cherie and Family and Dave and Leah I am so sorry to hear about Ruth passing away. I was watching the news the other day and I became so sad and overwhelmed. The Lord spoke to my heart and reminded me "this world is not my home". We have a hope in Heaven and seeing Jesus face to face. Can you imigine seeing Jesus face to face like Ruth is? Someday soon we will all be together forever with our Lord.

Although I never had the opportunity to meet Ruth in person, I did have the blessing of a few very nice conversations with her by phone. What a sweet Spirit she possessed; it came through in everything she said. I'm sure the Lord said to her "Well Done thy good and faithful servant." We know he is holding her in His loving arms now. He is so faithful and we know He will carry Cherie through this difficult time for her. God bless Cherie, my sister-in-Christ. Love you.

I have been blessed to know Ruth and Cherie over the last few years as they welcomed me into their lives. Throughout that time I came to know how beautiful a woman Ruth was. She shared her love for Jesus with everyone around her. She knew how to encourage others and to welcome them in. She was faithful to the Lord all her days and gave us so much more than she knew. While we mourn over the separation and emptiness we feel in our hearts over her going, yet we rejoice in her promotion to glory. She entered the kingdom with praises for the Lord on her lips, just as they were throughout her life. During this difficult time we remember 1 Thessalonians 4:13 to 18. 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. As you mourn for Ruth, you are in my prayers for hope in His return. May we all be found ready.

Mama Ruth, I can not express your kindness and prayers you have showered me with over the years. It is because of you and Cherie, I have Christ at the center of my life. Without Him, i am nothing. Soon, very soon we will all be together on the same side of the veil. I miss you, I love you, I am forever grateful have know you and call you mama Ruth.

Dear family; Wanted you to know how special Ruth was to us! Ruth was my Tupperware mother and she taught me a lot about life. Her faith encouraged my Christian faith! I am sorry I didn't get to visit her in her last days, months! I have kept several of her greeting cards of encouragement and important words she gad given me. Ruth helped me to become an encourager as well. She was such a blessing to so many! Loved her! We will pray for you and your loss.

As Ruth's daughter and caregiver I want to express my deepest thankfulness to the few loving individuals that sacrificed with me to take care of Mom over the last two years. It was an extraordinarily difficult time for us, and we bless the Lord for placing you in our lives. Mom and I considered you "our family," and love you beyond what we could ever express. Christ Jesus will reward you richly for being the ones He chose to serve Him in our affliction. En Agape.... Cherie
