Douglas Gene Parmeter

Douglas Gene Parmeter, age 75, of Wyoming, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Doug proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years. After he returned from the military, he drove trucks all over the U.S. Doug was an avid bowler, golfer, Michigan fan, and he loved animals. He was also very generous with his time, as he volunteered for his local senior center, and for the local VFW. Let’s Go Blue! He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Wilma Parmeter; brother, Cliff Parmeter; sister, Charlene Hessling; and niece, Amanda VanOostendorp. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Chong; children, Roberta (Hank Kuhlfeldt) Pelton, Susan (Burke Dewenter) Parmeter; grandchildren, Jennah, Iain, Braeden, and Charlie; son-in-law, Chris Pelton; siblings, Bill (Betty) Pappe, Karen VanOostendorp, Sandi (Steve) Crabbs; aunts, Judy and Patti; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved cats, Tony and Tiger. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Home, 3131 S. Division, Grand Rapids, MI 49548. The burial will take place at Myers Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Humane Society of West Michigan.
